If your question is not answered then please contact me via the link on the contact page and I will get back to you

What times do the meets run from and 'til?  - We always aim to be up and running for 9.30am. In the summer we normally start packing up at 5.00 (help always appreciated) but in the winter we need to make sure that we are finished and the field is clear before it gets too dark

What Gear do I need?   -  Just you normal fishing rod and reel will suffice. At the moment we do have some donated line that is freely available but you are advised to bring enough line to replace any crack offs that you may incur in the day. As a general rule you should use HIGH VISIBILITY main line and Shock Leader. Shock leader is a requirement, not an option! You will also need some lead weights. Occasionally these things are available on site but it is best assumed that it is not.

What are the rules? -  For Tournament purposes we follow the rules that are laid down by the UKSF as linked to from this site. For your cast to be recorded, then you lead/line and leader need to conform to the rule set. Here is a basic breakdown of how things work.........

1. You arrive on the field, drive through the gate (make sure you close it after) and park up in the safe area that will be obvious to you.

2. Sign in and pay your fee. At this time you will be issued a casting number and this number is to be written on any leads that you cast during the day so that any found crack-offs can be accounted for.

3. There is no specific casting order, Just jump in when you feel ready and cast. The basic procedure is that everyone casts, and then everyone retrieves and measures any casts that require it.

4. If you wish to record a distance then report your distance back to the marker.

5. If you crack off during a round, then you CAN NOT cast again until the next round, We operate a STRICT one cast per round policy except in exceptional cases. You MUST search for your crack off at the end of the round that you cracked off. You MUST report to the marker that you either have of have not found your crack off.

6. At the end of the day, the court of packed up and stowed by anyone still around. All help with this matter is much appreciated.

7. All scores recorded will be published on the website and others and also given to Total Sea Fishing Magazine for publication

Can I get casting lessons at the club? - Although advice is always available from the casters present, it should be noted that we are a casting club rather than a casting school and all of the other casters on the field have paid to be there too and are generally there to compete or practice for bigger competitions. Feel free to ask for advice and you will either be helped or pointed in the direction of someone who can help but please do not come and expect a day full of one on one tuition as that is not what we offer. If that is what you require then please contact me and I can put you in touch with a casting instructor in most areas. The best advice I can give is to come, Ask questions, Watch others and you'll be surprised at how a few changes to what you are doing can make a big difference to how far you are casting.

Are refreshments available? - We sometimes (normally in cold weather) have a kettle on the boil and Tea and Coffee available for free (make you own) however this should not be replied upon and you should bring with you enough food and drink to last you for your stay. THERE ARE NO TOILET FACILITIES ON THE SITE

All of this sounds very formal but we are a very friendly club and people generally leave feeling that they have had a good time. However safety (of humans and Livestock) is always our main concern and casting will be stopped rather than risk damage to anyone of anything
